Jason Lee

    Hailed as “the voice of Taiwan” (Koji Rock Magazine), Jason Lee is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound designer, record producer, and educator. Performing on violin, erhu, cello, bass, guitar, piano, percussion, and electronics, as well as his production work in the pop music scene in the US and Asia, Lee’s work spans African, Balkan, Chinese, Middle Eastern, microtonal, jazz, modern groove, fusion, western classical, electronic music and sound design. As a performer and collaborator, Lee toured in China with his Chinese/Jazz fusion quartet to high praise by Huaxia Magazine, and played a sold-out tour with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad Ensemble branch project in China, 2018.  

        Lee is an accomplished musician who has worked with a wide range of prominent artists across various genres as both a performer and a producer. In the world of modern jazz, Lee has collaborated with innovators such as Terence Blanchard, Jacob Collier, Jojo Mayer, David Fiuczynski, Satoshi Takeishi, and Mark Guiliana. He has also performed with world music pioneers including Yo-Yo Ma's Silkroad Ensemble, Gamin, AR Rahman, Simon Shaheen, Yazhi Guo, Wu Man, and Eugene Friesen. Additionally, Lee has worked with big names in the pop and rock worlds, such as Dream Theater, Lee Hom Wang, Cosmo People, and Whyte.


Lee has appeared in many major projects. He was the co-leader of the progressive classical/rock band, 2 Birds Band, and has also appeared in Dream Theater's "Along for the Ride" tour. Lee has headlined the “2023 Kaohsiung Film Festival”, as well as the Emotions series of the “Puppetopia Festival” at HERE, one of New York City's most highly regarded avant-garde theaters, alongside Gamin and Satoshi Takeishi.

       As a composer, Lee premiered his arrangement of "Spring Festival Overture" at the Harvard Chinese Gala, where he performed as a soloist with Eugene Friesen and the Berklee World String Orchestra. His musical contributions have been widely celebrated, and he has built a reputation as a versatile and highly skilled artist.

        In addition to his performance and composition work, Lee is also a skilled software developer. He joined The Boulanger Lab, directed by the creator of the Csound computer language, Dr. Richard Boulanger, and developed musical software for the lab. Lee graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2013 with a major in Electronic Production and Design, and received a scholarship for his studies.
